March 2015 !!!!

March Makes !!!

I can't believe it was July last year when I last added anything to my blog!!  I plan, from today, to try to add at least one post a month !!!

Mother's Day Cards

For Mother's Day this year, I went elephant mad, using some really cute Crafter's Companion 'Humphrey's Corner' toppers, co-ordinating patterned papers and card, mirri card and gems.  I used a tonic rose circle die to make a decorative layer to provide a base for the Humphrey's Corner topper.  I printed an insert in co-ordinating colours with a Mother's Day sentiment.  I didn't put a sentiment on the outside of the card in case the recipient wanted to keep the card after the event as a picture.

Although I made three very similar cards, I think the different colours make them look individual.

New Baby Card

I also used the same concept for a New Baby Card.  I layered mirri card, centura pearl then created a patterned paper in co-ordinating colours  (with dummies and bottles create a pattern) then printed and cut with tonic die.  I used the same printed paper to create an insert.

Treat Boxes For Special Mum's ....

My best friend hosted a lovely afternoon tea for friends and their mums ... my contribution to the afternoon was to make treat boxes with chocolates, which went down very well !!

I used Centura Pearl card and, using Serif Craft Artist 2, printed patterned box templates.

Using a score board I marked and folded the box templates.  The boxes were stuck together with
red liner tape (for maximum strength)

Once the Boxes were constructed, I
made flowers using punched hearts
from the same card.  I attached these
to the lid of the boxes using pinflair glue.
Then, the most important part, I put two wrapped chocolates in each box and secured
with a small piece of tape.

These are just some of the things I made in march, I hope you like them, I certainly had fun making them!

Xmas Rag Wreath ... my first one !!!

Xmas Rag Wreath

I decided to try this after seeing it on Create and Craft, and looked on the net for more information, and now I'm hooked, with plans to make matching mini Xmas trees .....

The bare materials !!
I used a 25cm polystyrene half ring, and 5cm x 5cm squares of fabric
(Xmas themes and plain red and green).

I used a mini (quite blunt) philips screw driver to poke the material into the polystyrene ring, putting a small dab of pva glue on the end of the material.

I gradually added more layers, using a green and red theme

I made sure the colours were evenly spread to make the wreath look balanced

Finally, I filled in any gaps, and made sure the material went right to the edges to ensure no bald patches !!

And here is my completed Xmas Rag Wreath
Hope you like it !!

My Biggest Challenge Yet ... Wedding Stationary

Wedding Stationary For A Family Friend

This was quite a challenge, as I needed to produce exactly what the
Bride and Groom wanted, for their special day ....
And I'm happy to say, they  were very happy with the finished stationary so I think I
must have achieved this !!
Thank You To Gemma and Ross For Agreeing To Me Sharing Their Stationary
 On My Blog.

Invitations

Pouch Style Outer With Three Inserts

Order Of Service

A5 Booklet With Paper Insert

I designed the stationary using Serif Craft Artist.

I created the bunting embellishment using single heart elements
and changed the colour to the desired shade.

All the stationary was printed on my Canon Printer,
onto Centura Pearl Snow White Silver Card.
The hearts are a dusky pink and yellow, with dusky pink writing
(unfortunately the colours have not photographed well).

The invitation inserts were loosely fastened together
with heart patterned gross grain ribbon, in a complementary shade,
to allow guests to easily detach and use the included 'RSVP' card.
The front of the pouch was embellished with aurora borealis gems.

The Order Of Service booklets were a challenge ....
Originally planned as a single card, it soon became clear the amount of
information needed would not fit on ....
So a rethink resulted in the A5 booklet with a paper insert ... a perfect alternative!!

I also made additional elements to tie in with the stationary theme ....
Typed Cards With Poems From The Bride To Parents,
Signs For The Reception
Cards With The Readings For The Ceremony
